ETC 4 Stars 2003

Carefully converted stable of attractive C18th Brook House together with newly refurbished thatched cottage. The peaceful village of Norton-sub-Hamdon nestles beneath Ham Hill, now a countryside park, but from which was quarried the warm golden stone used to fashion so many of the buildings in this pretty corner of South Somerset.

The village has a fine church, shop and pub (with excellent food). It offers a base to visit the Somerset Levels, the scenic Dorset countryside of Thomas Hardy, many National Trust properties (Montacute, Tintinull, Barrington, Lytes Cary and Stourhead) and classic gardens(Hestercombe and Forde Abbey).

Brook House stands in the centre of the village in a conservation area. No expense is spared in keeping the cottages in excellent decorative order. New furnishings for 2002 in place.

2, Blackspur Cottages offers 1 double, 1 double sofa bed in sitting room, sitting/dining room, separate kitchen, private garden.
