Lamont Holiday Homes are situated some two miles from Glenelg village. There is a bungalow and five chalets, all well spaced out and very well equipped. The bungalow stands in it's own site. There is a games room and laundry on site.
They are magnificently set in superb tranquil countryside - under 2 miles from the coast and sandy beach. The ferry at the Isle of Skye is a 5 minute crossing. There is an abundance of wildlife, golden eagles, sea eagles and many more of the rarer bird species, a local seal colony and wildlife otters. This is where Gavin Maxwell lived and wrote his books including "Ring of Bright Water". The site of his home at Sandaig is one of the most beautiful locations in the area. Several of the surrounding peaks exceed 3000 feet.
The area is rich in history. The road was built by General Wade in the early eighteenth century to serve Bernera Barracks, the ruins of which still stand. In earlier times, the area was the site of a pictish settlement and the ruins of the two brochs, Dun Telve and Dun Trodden, are the best preserved examples of these structures on the Scottish mainland.
